Park Trail #37

"Park Trail #37" (pastel, 6x9 inches)
Deal of the Day: $250 frame included. Free shipping in Continental U.S. (Deal expires 5/25/16)

This one is a little different from my usual Park Trail. It was a cloudy, drizzly morning in late September. The photo for this painting was taken just as the clouds were thinning and the mist was beginning to evaporate. I can still remember the clean, moist air and the smell of the dewy grass...

I know I've been kinda silent lately. My son is graduating from high school on Sunday. Very soon he will be a working, driving, independent adult... but it hasn't happened yet. Tomorrow morning he's taking his driving test and then we're shopping for a suit for all of those summer job interviews. My daughter is finishing her sophomore year and has exams next week and a violin recital the Saturday after.

I've been filling my life with the little things that seem to fill up my calendar day after day and keep me out of the studio. But that's ok. I think I've needed the time off and I still have loads of ideas that have been brewing all winter and very soon I'll be breaking out with new work!

Maybe.

Meanwhile, this is a sneak demo from my last workshop, done over a watercolor underpainting that had been sitting around in my studio for a couple years. I took it along, and while everyone was busy working on the last workshop day, and not needing much of my help because they had gotten so GOOD, I started in on this. One of the girls noticed and caught some photos.

(If you notice here, at the end of a landscape, I like to turn off my reference, and let the painting tell me what it needs...)

Anyway, after framing everything for the two art fairs this month, I'm thinking I might start offering a few select framed paintings at special prices, to make room for the new paintings which are crowding my head and to create space in the corner of my studio where these rest in boxes. (And, ok, to be honest, my son's a bit short of his college tuition, even with his scholarships, so I'll be in "income mode" all summer!)
