"Mooyin" (pastel, 8x8 inches) $350 framed

Sometimes I think I'd like to do a whole series of center-placed eye balls; there's something a little bit hypnotic about it.

Mooyin will be with me at the Bayou City Art Festival in Houston, March 23-25, unless she sells first.

If you like my work, please share! Thanks!

"Mohawk" (pastel, 8x6 inches) $225 unframed for a limited time

The San Antonio Rodeo starts on Thursday, where I get back to my portrait sketches (and caricatures now too! - Booth C400) So we'll see how long I can keep up my flow of little pastel paintings. In 2012 I almost did a painting a day during the rodeo... maybe I can channel my younger self...

Meanwhile here're some progress shots of Mohawk:

"Baaarbie" (pastel, 7x5 inches) $195 unframed for a limited time

So I've got about 6 weeks before the beginning of my busy spring art festival season, and three of those weeks include the San Antonio Rodeo at which I do quick portrait sketches... That means I've got about 3 weeks to build up my inventory of new paintings... Aaak!

Baaarbie will be available unframed until later after the Rodeo later in February, when I'll have time to start framing stuff.

"Sadie" (pastel, conte pencil and pastel pencil, 10x8 inches) sold

Just finished a pet portrait, but as is my habit, this one's not it. This is one of my favorites from the Christmas Season. I've started using actual black pastel (NuPastel) underlaying the dark tones instead of building all that up with the conte pencil. Much faster, and gives a nicer, deep black!
